Personal Finance Mad Lib

You remember in 5th grade when your teacher would give you mad libs? You’d get a paragraph with a bunch of blank spots throughout. You were suppose to work through the paragraph and fill in the blanks with words of your choosing. It was awesome because each student was given the same initial paragraph, but they had the opportunity to add their own personal flavor.
What if we had a little fun and did some PF mad libbing? The paragraph below is the foundation. All you need to do is copy and paste the paragraph and fill it in with your own words. I think this is a great way for us PF bloggers to consolidate our financial situations and also show a little bit of our personality. Try to keep your “fill ins” short. Now, on to the mad lib…

Hi my name is (blank) . I currently have (blank) dollars in my wallet. When I started managing my finances I was worth (blank), and now have a net worth of (blank). I currently work (blank) and have been doing it for (blank) years. I make roughly (blank) per year. I want to have (blank) waiting for me when it comes time to retire. Aside from learning about finances, I really enjoy (blank). I think the world would be a better place if (blank) didn’t exist. I had (blank) for dinner last night and it was (blank). I have had (blank) significant others over the course of my lifetime (counting awkward middle school relationships). One thing that makes me different is (blank). Now that I’m done with this mad lib, I think I’m going to (blank).

My completed version….

Hi my name is Debt Ninja, but you can just call me Ninja . I currently have 21 dollars in my wallet. When I started managing my finances I was worth -$28K, and now have a net worth of $10K. I currently work for the government and have been doing it for 2 years. I make roughly $50K per year. I want to have $6MM waiting for me when it comes time to retire. Aside from learning about finances, I really enjoy playing tennis. I think the world would be a better place if gerbils didn’t exist. I had chicken alfredo for dinner last night and it was mediocre. I have had 5 significant others over the course of my lifetime (counting awkward middle school relationships). One thing that makes me different is I had a mole removed ’cause I thought it looked like a third nipple. Now that I’m done with this mad lib, I think I’m going to get on a plane and fly back to San Diego.

Don’t be shy. It will literally only take about 5 min of your time to fill out (if even that). If you don’t feel comfortable putting in one of the sections, go ahead and leave that part blank. You can drop your Mad Lib in the comments section here, post it up on your own blog, or email me your version. With enough responses I could compile them all together and make a mega post with each bloggers specific responses. It would help give the Punch Debt readers familiarity with you and hopefully generate some traffic your way. Seriously do it, or I’ll cut your hair off 🙂
